ACE/BADM 436: The International Business Immersion Program


Course Description

Don’t miss this opportunity to study international agribusiness supply chains by experiencing them first-hand in New Zealand!

NOTE: The program has three components: 

  •  A 400-Level preparatory business course held during the spring 2017 semester course, ACE/BADM 436, (registration in this course is mandatory if you are selected)  Course meet will meet on Mondays 3-4:50pm in 426 Mumford Hall

  • A two-week study tour to New Zealand

  • a public on-campus presentation of the students' research findings during the fall 2017 semester. 

Course Information

During the spring semester, the course will focus on international business and global management issues in Australiasia. Students will become experts in one particular industry from a comparative perspective, working in teams. During the intensive study tour, we will visit multinational companies, regulators, farmers, and local companies.  Don’t miss this opportunity to study international agribusiness supply chains by experiencing them first-hand in New Zealand!

The 2017 IBIP program trip to New Zealand would travel from approximately May 13-27, 2017.

  • Juniors 

  • Seniors graduating in December 2017
All majors are welcome. May 2017 graduating seniors will not be considered.

The program is housed in the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, but is cross-listed in the College of Business and works closely with many of the Title VI Cultural Centers on campus.

Students will register in either ACE 436 or BADM 436 for 4 hours. Course begin the first week of the spring semester 2017.

  • Housing:  You will stay in double or triple rooms with other program participants in safe and secure hotels & dorms in New Zealand.

  • Meals:  2/3 meals per day are included in the program fee.  This will include meals at modest restaurants.  You will be responsible for all food/drinks beyond the provided meals.

Application Process:  Program is managed through the ACES Study Abroad Office, 123 Mumford Hall. In order to determine if program expenses will be Financial Aid eligible, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 217-333-0100 as soon as possible.  All participants are expected to adhere to the policies and procedures of the University of Illinois Study Abroad Office.
