Program Description:
I’m committed to traveling to Arusha, TZ in May to serve as the social innovation track chair for Madhu’s 2nd Subsistence Marketplaces Bottom-Up Immersion Conference and would like to take a handful of EWOB students + my social innovation fellow so that we can build relationships/source projects with social enterprises, gain some experience in the TZ context, and collect data that can be helpful in developing EWOB educational materials.
 
The application should state that this program is open to undergraduate students who are members of Entrepreneurs Without Borders. Program includes experiential learning in marketplace literacy education and social enterprise consulting.
 
Estimated Program Dates: May 22 –June 2

12 days total including transit dates

Chicago O’hare (ORD) to Arusha, Tanzania (JRO—Kilimanjaro Intl)
We will plan to depart Chicago on May 22 (no earlier), aiming to arrive in Arusha on May 23 or 24.
We will plan to depart Arusha on evening of Sat, June 1 (to arrive back in Chicago on Sun, June 2).
 
May 22-23/24: Transit
May 25-28: Immersion Conference community field visits and reflections
May 29-30: EWOB MPL education outreach activities with Maasai women
May 31-June 1: Safari (e.g., Ngorongoro Crater; Serengeti)
June 1 evening-June 2/3: Transit
