Program Description:

Entrepreneurs Without Borders (EWOB)

Being entrepreneurial in addressing global challenges
Teaching Entrepreneurship home and abroad

Limited slots available for international immersion opportunity.

Entrepreneurs Without Borders (EWOB) was founded in 2008, right here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with the assistance and dedication of Professor Madhu Viswanathan, the Academy of Entrepreneurial Leadership is using the EWOB trip to provide participating students with an opportunity to learn, and then teach, marketplace literacy within the state of Illinois and internationally. In 2018, the centerpiece of the students’ experiences in EWOB will be the international immersion trip to India over Winter Break; the objectives of this trip are: 1) immersion in subsistence marketplaces through first-hand observation of the influences of poverty, literacy, and culture; 2) learn about a diverse set of organizations and their initiatives in subsistence marketplaces; 3) conduct field research for understanding entrepreneurship; and 4) design modules and interactions for enabling entrepreneurship. To accomplish these objectives students engage in assessment modules, observations and interactions in urban and rural settings, field trips to profit and non-profit organizations, and individual and group interviews in rural and urban settings. Students return from this rigorous trip with first-hand experience in using the power of entrepreneurship for positive change.
