Keio University
Keio Gijuku was founded in 1858 upon a commitment to searching for knowledge beyond Japan's borders. This tradition and continued commitment are reflected in Keio Law School 's three aspirations--to be international-minded, to be multidisciplinary, and to be pioneering. Keio offers a varied range of courses. The four fields increasingly in demand on the business frontline are corporate law, financial law, international business law and intellectual property law. Taught by instructors who are themselves active as practitioners in these fields, students are given the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the functions of law in these fields through hands-on experience of legal practice, enabling them to acquire academic knowledge and skills that can be applied in the real world.
This is of course not the only pioneering element of Keio Law School's curriculum, which also consists of advanced courses on subjects such as administrative law, tax law, criminal law, labor law, social security law, environmental law and medical law. Sufficient English-language courses are available for Illinois students to take a full load of courses in English. Two students from Illinois may study at Keio for one semester each year.

Deadlines and Decision Dates
Applications and supporting documents must be submitted by deadlines established by the Study Abroad Office for timely review. Completed applications submitted by the early deadline will be given priority consideration.
The Study Abroad Office reviews applications on a batch basis, i.e. applications not completed by the early deadline may likely be reviewed only after the final deadline. As some programs will close/fill after the priority deadline, students are encouraged to apply early.
The decision dates published below indicate to the earliest possible date that students may receive a decision regarding their application. Most decisions will be released two to three weeks after the deadline.
Academic Year Priority Deadline: January 15
Academic Year Final Deadline: February 15
**Program may close before final deadlines.
Application Process
Students are required to apply through Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange in order to get University of Illinois financial aid and scholarship as well as credits and grades for course work completed. All participants are expected to adhere to the policies and procedures of Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange.
All applications include, at the minimum: an official paper transcript, 1 or 2 letters of recommendation (on-line recommended), an essay, and some on-line questionnaires.
